With a very heavy heart, we must say a final goodbye to our wonderful friend and ABF volunteer Michaux Grant. He left us suddenly and unexpectedly on Sunday, November 28, 2021. Michaux was larger than life and someone whom you will never forget, even if you only met him once. I only knew him for three of his 78 years on this earth, but it felt like I had known him my whole life.
The first time Michaux walked into our warehouse at All Blessings Flow, he had a booming presence. He immediately fell in love with our mission. So two years ago, he decided to join us as a volunteer, working in our office, answering phone calls and scheduling pick-ups and deliveries. Though we are now only open to the public two days a week, he was often in the office five days a week, working tirelessly to help those in need in any way he could.
Even on the days Michaux was not in the office, you could find him sitting in his truck at every business he visited, speaking to anyone who walked by and handing them an ABF brochure to help spread the word about our mission. He beamed whenever he talked about the work we do. He would tell everyone that All Blessings Flow was his “church” and explain how he knew that he was exactly where God had placed him.

Michaux had a gift for making people laugh. It seemed his whole goal in life was to see you smile. He was our “Make it Happen Guy” and was always looking for ways to help ABF and every client who called. For example, if someone desperately needed a hospital bed that day, he would move heaven and earth to make sure a bed was delivered to them by nightfall. But Michaux also had a gift to listen and soothe the broken-hearted. Many folks who come to us are so distraught and often pour their hearts out as they tell their stories. He would always take the time to listen and make them feel so much better by the time he hung up the phone or they left the office.
Michaux was our biggest supporter and consistently stated that he was going to raise enough money for ABF to go statewide so we could help that many more people. He had such an incredibly huge heart.
He called everyone Honey. No matter if you were a man, woman, or child, and no matter if you were two, 42, or 92, he’d call you Honey.
He was a man true to his word and always said, “My word is my bond!” He often talked about being raised by his parents and grandparents in a family with strong faith and love of Jesus. You could feel how much he loved his wife and family by how much he talked about them.
He was well-known in all circles and equally comfortable with both the rich and famous and the homeless on the street--and all loved him.
My father passed away three years ago. Shortly after, Michaux stepped into my life and filled a large void. He shared his love, wisdom, and support and became a father figure, best friend, and wonderful coworker. No one will ever be able to fill his shoes, and the days ahead will be difficult, walking them without him around. But I know he will remain All Blessings Flow’s biggest fan and will still be working for us in any way the Lord will allow him to do from high above. We will continue to feel his spirit throughout the warehouse, so he will always be with us.
But for now, we must say goodbye to our dear friend. Michaux, we love you and miss you so very much.
In lieu of flowers, Marie and the family have asked for donations to made to All Blessings Flow in memory of Michaux.
